A thirteen - member Board of Directors represents diversity and common goals in the community. A CPA, district ranger for the US Forest Service, plant ecologist, business executives, and professors have all worked together on the board to help the CLSLC include a variety of input. Their diversity, along with a crucial comprehension of community wide desires for benign development and areas in need of protection help make the CLSLC board of directors both unique and effective.
Since the CLSLC formed it has focused its efforts on watershed buffer-zones, wildlife corridors, conservation easement acquisition, assessment of properties, stewardship, study of urban sprawl, access to preserves for research and recreation, public outreach, and general environmental education.
It is the hope of the CLSLC that through greater collective ownership, education, and broad community partnerships, Michigan's Upper Peninsula will maintain its global significance, and benefit from regional sustainability.
